Margaret Ann Reid Harrison

She fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept the faith, and on August 6, 2026, her faith became sight. Margaret Ann Reid Harrison was known as Miss Ann to many, Nana to 13 (who all believed they were her favorite), Mama to Angie, Mike, Ben, and Sherri, and My Girl to only one, her husband of 52 years, David. Ann was born in Macon, Georgia on April 26, 1957, but grew up celebrating April 25th as her birthday. It wasn’t until she applied for her marriage license that she found out her actual birthday. This may have been due to the fact that Ann had four older sisters and one younger brother. Although she moved around a good bit throughout her childhood, she made her home in Loganville, Georgia for the last 54 years. On any given Sunday morning, you would find her singing in the choir and belting solos with her beautiful voice at Sharon Baptist Church. In addition to singing, she taught Sunday School classes, led youth activities, and loved on everyone that came through the doors of the church. She didn’t just say that she loved people, she showed her love to so many through various ways. She took her friends Hoke and Brenda to cancer treatments. She cared for her in-laws Bill and Shirley in their final years doing whatever it took to keep them comfortable. She made masks for people during the covid pandemic. She took pride in feeding thousands of kids that came through her lunch line at Pharr Elementary School, greeting each child by name, giving them hugs when they needed it, and paid off countless lunch balances so “her kids” went home with a full belly. She was known for being a wonderful southern cook and her specialty cakes were red velvet and German chocolate. When someone was sick, or had a family member pass away, she was one of the first people at their house with a basket of food. She showed love through cooking for others, and her love was somehow magically infused into the dishes she prepared. She also showed love through her hospitality. Throughout her adult life, her doors were always open to friends and family members who needed a warm meal or a place to stay. If she had food, you had food. If she had a bed, you had a bed with no questions asked. She openhandedly shared what she had with others, expecting nothing in return. In her retirement, she volunteered at The Shepherd’s Staff in Loganville providing not just food, but love and encouragement to those who needed it. In fact, the day before her first brain surgery she was at the Shepherd’s Staff loving others. Her world, and the world of those around her drastically changed in February when she heard the words “brain tumor”. Within a month or so, it was determined that it wasn’t just any type of brain tumor, it was glioblastoma. Despite six weeks of chemo and radiation the glioblastoma spread. Even when making the decision to transition to hospice care, her concern was for her loved ones making sure they were ok. As the weeks progressed, through whispered breaths, she made sure that her loved ones were ok and ensured they would take care of each other after her passing. Her beautiful, flashy smile slowly became crooked from the effects of the tumor, and although she lost her ability to walk and care for herself, she never complained. That is just the kind of person that she was. She put others first, she loved deeply, she shared what she had, and now she is at her true home, walking again, singing again, and at perfect peace. She will forever be missed but her legacy will live on through the lives of all that knew her. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2026 at Sharon Baptist Church, 5690 S. Sharon Church Road, Loganville, with Rev. Glenn Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 670 Tom Brewer Road, Loganville.
