Tim Tyler

It is with profound sadness that we announce Timothy Mark Tyler, age 70, passed peacefully in his sleep on May 8, 2026. He was born on December 3, 1955, in Barre, VT to Theresa Tyler and Donald Tyler, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Champlain College in Burlington, Vt class of 1977. He married Michelle Tyler, also preceded in death, in December 1985, and they shared 36 wonderful years of marriage. Tim was truly one of a kind — a legend in the car business and one of the best used car guys to ever do it. From building soap box cars as a boy to coining the phrase “Down the Road Motors,” he carried a lifelong love of cars, NASCAR, and sports through every stage of his life. He also loved skiing, which he first learned on wooden skis at a local rope tow in Vermont. He LOVED finding a good deal, looking sharp in his favorite blue shirts and clean shoes, and believed that no matter what you had, you should always take pride in yourself. He enjoyed a good steak dinner, eggs for breakfast, and making sure everyone around him was fed and smiling — even sharing dessert with his beloved cats. Tim faced life’s challenges with strength and determination, never giving up no matter the obstacle before him. Through every season of life, he remained dependable, steady, and strong — a true example of perseverance and integrity. Whether delivering newspapers from the back of a wagon as a young boy, becoming the family Grill Master, or simply being the life of the party, he brought joy, laughter, and love everywhere he went. He never met a stranger and somehow ran into friends everywhere he traveled. He was always making people laugh, and many would say he was the funniest person they had ever met. Whether he was singing, dancing, cheering on the New England Patriots or Atlanta Braves, skiing, fishing on the lake, or watching sports on his beloved TVs, he brought joy and energy everywhere he went. As a son, father, brother, Papa, husband, and friend, Tim was a source of wisdom, protection, encouragement, and unconditional love. He adored his grandchildren, and many joked that they ranked just above his own children — although his cat Precious may have given them all some competition. Tim was a hardworking, God-loving man whose strength, faith, and determination shaped the lives of everyone around him. He believed deeply in family, kindness, and helping others, always putting the needs of others before his own. Known for his goofy personality, unforgettable storytelling, and warm heart, he touched countless lives with his compassion, generosity, and humor. Tim lived his life with selflessness and faith, reflecting the words of Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind and compassionate to one another.” Tim is survived by his children: Tara Key (James), Daniel Tyler (Taylor), and Amanda Parker (Paul); his grandchildren Bella (15), Ryker (12), and Olivia (2); and his loyal cat, Precious. He is also survived by many beloved family members, including his mother- and father-in-law, Margaret and Harry Wilson; siblings Donna Tyler-Maleska, Debbie Robinson, and Doug Tyler; his niece Mackenzie Robinson; Nancy Tyler; and many cousins and extended family members. Please join us in celebrating Tim’s life on Friday evening, May 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. A graveside service will be held on May 17, 2026, at McKendree United Methodist Church Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., with a fellowship meal to follow. As a devoted member of McKendree United Methodist Church for more than 25 years, all are welcome to join in Tim’s favorite contemporary Sunday service at 9:30 a.m. His legacy of faith, perseverance, humor, and unconditional love will live on forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Tim to some of his favorite causes: Clark’s Christmas Kids, Shriners Children’s, donating food through your local church, or supporting a classroom at a local school.
