Peter Kuhl Martin III

MARTIN- Peter K. “Pete” Martin III (75), husband, father, successful businessman, who had a killer left-handed curve ball passed away on January 12, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children. A Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, January 25. 2025 in the Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home Lawrenceville, Ga. With Reverend Ryan Johnson and Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter K. Martin Jr., Dorothy (Jones) Martin, and brother Jeff Martin. Pete was a Lawrenceville man, born and raised. He treasured time with his family and could be seen at his children’s and grandchildren’s performing and sporting events, either as a patron, coach or a sideline supporter. He was a loyal friend and engaged in long conversations about politics, golf, sports and the good old days. Pete was known for his laugh and his good-natured banter. He helped people everywhere he went. He bought meals for first responders or random strangers if he thought it would brighten their day. He was blessed in business and generous in his giving. Pete adored his wife of 53 years, Amelia Martin, and they enjoyed their lives together. Whether it was with their family, their church friends, or their old dinner club friends, they had a great time together. Pete was a lover, not a fighter, but he would fight. He was an avid golfer and would always try to tilt the bet in his favor. He played Augusta National and shot 81. He birdied number 8, but Amen Corner got him. He bogeyed 11, 12 & 13. Pete made the best grilled cheese sandwich in the state of Georgia. He was a notoriously picky eater, and he never finished his last bite of food. Later in life, his grandson taught him to enjoy Panda Express. Pete began working when he was 12 years old and was a jerk, a soda jerk. He served in the National Guard, worked in retail and was convinced by Allen Hood to join him at Hood Insurance Agency. Over a 50 year insurance career, Pete built a successful business based on helping people. He was known for his kindness and patience with his clients. He was well respected in the industry and in the local business community. He was proud to work with his son, P.K. Martin IV; daughter, Anna Martin Parker; and nephew, Jason Powell. Working with his family was one of his greatest joys. Pete loved Jesus. He was a long-time usher at Hebron Baptist Church. Later he attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in Harbins, Georgia. He enjoyed fellowship with old friends and new. In his difficult battle with cancer he clung to his faith and spent a lot of his free time reading his Bible. He led by example and we learned how to live life from watching him. Pete Martin may be absent from us, but he is present with the Lord. He is survived by his wife Amelia (Street) Martin; son and daughter-in-law P.K. & Amanda Martin IV; daughter and son-in-law Anna & Trey Parker; sister and brother-in-law Mary Susan & John Wages; brother and sister-in-law Mike & Phyllis Martin and his grandchildren Charlotte Martin, Kuhl Martin V., Walton Parker, Cora Parker and Louise Parker. Family will receive friends and family at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Rd, Lawrenceville, Ga on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
