Albert Chambers

Albert Welch Chambers, Sr. age 85, of Snellville, Georgia, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on December 25, 2024. His life was a testament to faith, love, and service, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him. A Home Going Service celebrating Albert’s life will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Georgia with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Victor E. Okonkwo, Altar of Grace International Church. Following the service there will be a repast at Altar of Grace International Church. Albert will be laid to rest with military honors at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, January 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with special remarks scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Albert was born on July 14, 1939, in Mount Gilead, North Carolina, to Thomas James and Glennie (Rush) Chambers. He served his country with pride in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964. Following his military service, Albert built a distinguished career as a tax examiner for the Department of Revenue in Pennsylvania, where he worked for many years until his retirement. A man of deep faith, Albert loved music and started playing the piano at his church at the age of 12 and continued playing while serving in the military. He was a musician for the Gospel Group “The Artist Singers” and also the musician for the Interdenominational Ministries Gospel Choir in Harrisburg, PA. Albert was a Deacon and Minister of Music at Antioch Tabernacle United Holy Church of America in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, before continuing his ministry at Altar of Grace International Church in Snellville, Georgia. He was a member of The Fathers House and Live Free Church in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and brought warmth and kindness as a greeter at 12Stone Church. Albert’s love for people and music was at the heart of his life. As a talented pianist, he shared his musical gifts by volunteering to play for residents at senior living facilities, bringing joy and light wherever he performed. He found immense joy in listening to and playing music, an expression of his vibrant spirit and unwavering love for the Lord. Even in his later years, Albert remained active, enjoying long walks and staying physically fit. Albert’s legacy is one of love, faith, and devotion to his family and community. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Clarice (Cross) Chambers; his parents, Thomas and Glennie (Rush) Chambers; and his sister, Lela Mae Jones. He is survived by his beloved wife, Hope (Brown) Chambers of Snellville, Georgia; his children, Albert “Bert” Chambers of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Cheryl (Fultz) and Larry Quick of Red Springs, North Carolina, Opal Hope Bennett of Grayson, Georgia, and Glen Hatcher of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Albert’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren, including George (II) and Cheylaina Fultz, Ohio, Jonathan Fultz of Georgia, Pearl Fultz of North Carolina, Clarice “Reece” and Rick Nesbitt of Georgia, Albert Chambers III, Christina Chambers and Gabrielle Chambers of Georgia, Stephon Quick of North Carolina, Carlton II and Tamara Beasley of North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Jori Fultz, George Fultz III, Rosario Fultz, Cairo Fultz, Kya Nesbitt, Kasen Nesbitt, and Rylee Nesbitt; Carlton Beasly III and Leilani Beasly; and his godchildren, Constance Ann Smith, Shirley Clark and Donna Rossum. He is also survived by his siblings, Doreatha Daniley and Dennis Chambers, both of New Haven, Connecticut and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins from near and far. Albert’s family invites all who knew and loved him to join in honoring his extraordinary life.
