Pierre Aly Verne
September 3, 1942 - December 23, 2021
Pierre Aly Verne, 79, passed away on December 23, 2021, surrounded by the love of his family. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his love left a beacon of light for all who loved him. The patriarch of the Verne family, Aly was the father figure to those that needed one, the supporter, the disciplinarian, and the keeper of family stories. A photographer, lover of flowers, music, dancing, and movies, Aly loved to share his passions with family, gifting cameras to many of his nephews and nieces to capture the world around them. With a big heart, Aly was always willing to share what he had with those around him. His joy was ever-present when he brought out pictures and shared recollections of memories as a young man growing up in Haiti or on the streets of New York. Tough love might have been his middle name, even dishing it out to his nephew and niece’s close friends, but Aly’s love was strong and constant, never faulting at our growing pains. He showed up when you needed, stood up for the right thing, and kept the family first. He kept us safe. Aly is preceded in death by his parents, Marc and Marie (Zephir) Verne; siblings Micheline, Hugues, Mireille, Danielle, Junia, and Renee. He is survived by his sisters Ginette (Verne) Cadet and Florence Verne and sister-in-law Daniela Verne; nephews and nieces Florence (Pierre-Louis) Bijou, Nadine (Pierre-Louis) Dennery, Sandra Pierre-Louis, Richard Pierre-Louis, Caroline Cadet, Maxime Cadet, Valerie Cadet-Moody, Stephanie Cadet, Jean-Philippe Bernardin, Christian Bernardin, Alex Bernardin, Marie-Francoise Bernardin, Jean-Marc Verne, Pascale Verne, Dominique (Verne) St. Hillaire, Noelle (Sanon) Stewart, Ariane (Jolliet) Voigt, Brigitte Jolliet; 36 grand nephews and nieces including his honorary grandson Julien Cadet-McCoy; and cousins Michelin and the Vernes, Daniel & Roland and the Zephirs, Claude & Denis and the Villards, Pierre and the Dupuys, and many other cousins. The family will begin to receive close friends and family for the viewing at 1:00 PM and the service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. 770-962-3100.
