John Thomas Cole Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John Thomas Cole, 82, of Snellville, GA passed away peacefully at his home on 1/10/2022 Johnny was born in Atlanta, GA to Hester Alice Mullinax Cole and William Henry Cole on July 6th 1939. In his younger years, he loved hanging out with his neighborhood and school friends around Atlantic Steel and the Georgia Tech campus. He attended O’Keefe High School in Atlanta, thereafter joining the Marine Corps, proudly serving his country. He married his beautiful bride Elizabeth Jane Anderson on 8-29-1969 at Ousley Methodist Church in Decatur, GA. Johnny worked as a truck driver for over 50 years for McLean and Yellow Trucking Companies. He relished his 40 plus years as an avid hunter and member of Shiloh Sportsman Association. Johnny particularly enjoyed coaching youth baseball and softball and supporting his children’s athletics; later watching his grandkids in their sporting adventures. Johnny was also a big supporter of his wife’s tennis teams. Johnny was a loving man and precious soul. If you got a chance to meet him and have a conversation consider yourself lucky. Johnny is preceded in death by his wife, Jane Cole, Father William Cole, Mother Hester Alice, sister Margaret Yates and brothers William and Gene Cole. Johnny is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Shannon and Brian Swords, his son Brandon Cole, grandchildren Haley Swords, Gavin Swords, Reese Cole, Cohen Cole, & Emerie Cole. As well as beloved nephews and nieces. There will be a Celebration of Life Dinner and Casting of Ashes Ceremony for Johnny and Jane on January 22nd at 4:30 pm at the family home in Snellville GA. Outdoor Ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 with dinner immediately following. Dress is casual and comfortable shoes recommended for short walk to ceremony venue.
