Elizabeth Lora Dutton

November 19, 1926 - February 7, 2022

Dutton – Mrs. Elizabeth Lora Dutton, 95, of Lawrenceville, GA went to her heavenly home peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2022. A Godly woman, a loving mother of four children and adorning wife to her husband of 72 years, Elijah Sanford Dutton. Elizabeth was born on November 19, 1926, in Lilburn, GA to the late Bonnie Lee Wells and Earlie Lonzo Mauldin. Elizabeth was the third child of eight children. Her brothers and sisters are Lucile, Lonzo, then Elizabeth, Lillian, Evalena, Claude, Betty, and Jean. Elizabeth was a woman of deep faith and strong character. She will be greatly remembered for the sweetest smile that always greeted you with warmth. She was an excellent cook. She loved to cook, can and bake for her family, showing her love in this way. There was always a pretty table setting clothed and adorned with a meal of love. You would find a special recipe, Apple and Orange Cake, passed from generations from Granny Eula Dutton. This cake was a favorite at Christmas time sprinkled with crushed peppermint candy. Holiday meals were always looked forward to with the anticipation for the best dressing and giblet gravy and most importantly the love you felt from her un-idled hands. She loved to sew and crochet using a crochet hook to interlock loops of thread creating a woven extension of herself. Her talented hands that were graced by her Heavenly Father were never idle, always working to grace someone else. While raising four children she worked at Genesco Shoe Company in Lawrenceville for about 30 years. She then worked at Scientific Atlanta for around twenty years. When returning from work she would be found with a newly purchased piece of fabric always having a vision of turning it into something beautiful that would clothe her sweet loving soul and others. Proverbs 31:25-31 best describes Elizabeth: Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie Lee Wells and Earlie Lonzo Mauldin. Her husband Elijah Sanford Dutton and son Dennis Dutton, sisters Lucile Martin, Lillian Garmon and Evalena Lunsford. Brothers, Lonzo Mauldin and Claude Mauldin. Daughter-in-law Anita Dutton and son-in-law Billy W. Ewing. Elizabeth is survived by two sons, one daughter, and by two sisters, Betty Hodge, and Jean Davis. Oldest son, Danny Dutton, daughter, Brenda Ewing, granddaughter, Robin & Clay Brown; great granddaughter, Wren Brown; granddaughter, Amanda and Tim Scoggins, great grandson, William Scoggins, grandson, Bill Ewing; son, Donald Dutton, grandson, Toby and Amy Dutton; great grandson, Lige Dutton; grandson, Kyle Dutton; grandson, Adam and Kim Dutton, great grandsons and great granddaughter, Ethan Dutton, Kara Dutton, Kaleb Dutton, and Liam Dutton. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, February 11, 2022, in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawrenceville, GA. The family will receive friends before the service from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. 770-962-3100.
