Barbara Arnold

February 8, 1956 - February 23, 2022

Barbara Green Arnold age 66 of Lawrenceville, GA, lost her 6-year battle with throat cancer on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Event room at Fort Yargo State Park, Winder, GA. Barbara was the youngest of three girls born in Winder, GA. She was a daddy’s girl and depending on who you believed she was the instigator of fights with her sisters or an innocent bystander. She married young and had three children that she loved very much. Even though she didn’t have much she always found a way to have fun with what she had like when she smuggled in cheese sandwiches to the circus because she only had enough money to buy the tickets. She always rooted for the underdog. She could be tough as nails or as sweet as pie. If she considered, you a friend you could always count on her. She would do anything you needed whether it was cutting an old man’s toenails that lived near her, helping a friend care for an ailing parent, or driving to rescue a friend from a situation in the middle of the night. Later in life she met a man that adored her and married again. They could be found dancing at the American Legion or going to the flea market to look for treasures. Once the grandkids came along, she shifted her focus on them. She loved babysitting and playing with them anytime she could. Whether it was sword fights in the yard or kissing their booboos, they loved going to see Granny. She loved making Sunday dinners for her family and made the best meatloaf, cornbread, and green beans in the world, but it took her 50 years to perfect an edible biscuit. She was an avid reader, and her favorite books were ones True Crime novels about serial killers. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and had the prettiest and neatest handwriting. She was very artistic. She enjoyed spoiling her cats rotten and treating them as if they were her babies. Although Barbara’s life was short it was filled with many adventures and a lot of love. We know she is happy in the arms of her beloved Hugh and heaven is quite a bit brighter and more colorful now that she is there. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 11 years, Hugh Arnold, in 2010; her sister Linda (Green) Lord and her parents Lynn Green & Helen (Nabors) Arnold. She is survived by her children, David Lynn Royals; Dennis & Kelli Royals, Jr; Kelley & Russell Karis; 8 grandchildren; sister, Carol Haynes; stepsister, Faye & Tony McMichael. A graveside inurnment will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Gwinnett Memorial Park, Lawrenceville. Arrangements by Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road SW, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046-770-962-3100. Please sign the online guest registry at www.stewartfh.com
