Alba Burton Melton

December 10, 1944 - January 29, 2022

Melton – Alba Burton Melton, age 77 of Jefferson, GA formally of Dacula, GA passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 19, 2022, in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM prior to the service. She graduated from Dacula High School where she played basketball. Alba was the former owner of Oak Grove Child Development Center and Ramblin Ranch Learning Center both located in Lawrenceville. She currently worked beside her daughter LaNita at Fort Daniel Children’s Academy where she continued to touch the lives of children and their families. Alba had a very giving heart accompanied by a big personality; she never met a stranger. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She is preceded by her parents Waymon and Vera Harrison Mitchell, husband Clarence Melton, brothers, Charles Mitchell, Dewey Mitchell, and Dorsey Mitchell. Alba is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, LaNita and Gary Ricks, son & daughter-in-law, Todd and Eve Burton, daughter & son-in-law, Lynnette and Micah Ross, daughter, Daphne Melton, sister & brother-in-law, Bernice and Loy Whitley, 13 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters.
